A – Ayurveda

Welcome to the world of Ayurveda, the ancient holistic tradition of India. Derived from the Sanskrit words “Ayu” meaning life and “Veda” meaning knowledge, Ayurveda translates to “the science of life.” It encompasses the wisdom of what is conducive and what is not, the joyous and sorrowful aspects of existence, and the measures for longevity.

In Ayurveda, health transcends mere absence of disease; it embodies a state of dynamic physical, mental, and spiritual well-being and fulfillment. Originating as a vital component of Vedic science, Ayurveda is deeply rooted in a holistic understanding of the universe, alongside disciplines such as Yoga, Meditation, and Astrology.

With its array of herbal remedies, dietary guidelines, bodywork techniques, mental and lifestyle recommendations, psychological insights, and spiritual teachings, Ayurveda offers a comprehensive approach to nurturing the body, mind, and spirit. Discover the profound wisdom of Ayurveda as we embark on a journey towards vibrant health and vitality.

Please note: Ayurveda supports balance and well-being but does not replace medical diagnosis or treatment by a licensed healthcare provider.

Ayurveda strives to alleviate suffering and promote well-being, guiding individuals towards four fundamental aims of life:

  1. Dharma: Upholding righteousness and serving society.
  2. Artha: Acquiring wealth for livelihood.
  3. Kama: Fulfilling worldly desires and passions.
  4. Moksha: Achieving spiritual liberation and enlightenment.

To safeguard health, Ayurveda emphasizes:

  • Conscious food choices: Understanding the properties of food for optimal nourishment.
  • Honoring natural urges: Avoiding suppression of bodily functions to prevent illness.
  • Cultivating healthy habits: Promoting vitality, sensory acuity, and longevity through mindful living.

These recommendations are meant to complement, not replace, professional medical advice.

What is Kizhi?

Kizhi therapy is a profound Ayurvedic massage using Kizhi (Bolus bags) filled with herbal mixtures, powders, medicinal rice, or sand. It effectively treats conditions like arthritis, spondylitis, fibromyalgia, and chronic pain.

The essence of Kizhi massage lies in seamlessly blending ancient Ayurvedic wisdom with contemporary physiological understanding. This holistic therapy encompasses several key elements:

Heat Therapy: Warm Kizhi poultices work wonders by expanding blood vessels, promoting circulation, and triggering the release of endorphins. The result? A profound alleviation of pain and discomfort.

Herbal Synergy: Crafted with precision, herbal blends in Kizhi massage target inflammation, fortify immunity, and purify the skin. This personalized approach fosters holistic health and overall well-being.

Kansu Bowl – Foot Massage

In Ayurveda, a unique technique involving the use of a Kansu bowl, traditionally known as “VATI,” containing three metals – copper, bronze, and zinc – offers remarkable therapeutic benefits.

Kansu bowls are an integral part of Ayurvedic medicine. Throughout the day, our feet bear the weight of our body, often neglected and confined within shoes. However, they possess the potential to restore balance to the entire body, as recognized in India for centuries.

According to Ayurvedic principles, copper aids in absorbing excess body heat and possesses renowned anti-inflammatory properties, particularly beneficial for joints. Zinc stimulates muscular tissue and possesses antiseptic properties, while bronze serves as a catalyst for copper and zinc synergy.

During the treatment, ghee is used to massage the feet and lower legs, offering a balancing effect for pitta. This therapeutic approach can promote deeper sleep, alleviate stress, depression, and anxiety, enhance overall metabolism, and fortify the lower limbs.

The treatment duration should not exceed 10 minutes per foot per day. Caution is advised as excessive application may cause the feet to darken.

Benefits of Kansu Bowl – Foot Massage:

  • Stimulates digestive reflexes
  • Removes excess pitta or heat from the body
  • Balances the three doshas
  • Removes toxins from the body and supports proper functioning of vital organs
  • Offers subtle energy work
  • Enhances circulation of blood, lymph, and prana, promoting a sense of softness and soothing sensations.
